About the Author
Meet Dennis Pysnack
Dennis Pysnack was raised in a family where helping others was simply part of everyday life. Service, hard work, and giving back shaped the environment he grew up in and became the foundation for everything that followed.
His mother worked as a nurse, while his father served in the United States Navy during the Korean War before continuing his commitment to service as a New York State Police Officer. Dennis also grew up inspired by family members who dedicated their lives to helping others, including an uncle who served in the United States Air Force and later led a national anesthesiology certification program. Along the way, his brother Joe became both a trusted partner and teammate in years of Booster Club work and community efforts.

More Than 25 Cents is more than a sports story. It is a story about people. Beginning with youth basketball and expanding into recreation, volunteerism, fundraising, mentorship, and community leadership, the book chronicles how one town came together to create lasting opportunities for generations.

Dennis - got your book yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the quick read. When I left for college in September 1977, most of my time was spent away – other than the Christmas holidays, summers were spent running Offense-Defense football camps in Connecticut, Utah, California, and Massachusetts.

My folks left upstate in 1985 when my father retired from the NYS Police – my high school classmates knew him as BCI Bob. Yours is a compelling story. I recall being a sixth grader and shooting baskets in front of Bob Alman at the Rec Center. He was a major factor keeping me on the 7th & 8th grade basketball team – not that I had any talent, but Coach Alman figured I would grow into my klutzy feet. How different my life may have been without his support.

The goal of my novel was to encapsulate a place and time – Manhattan in the early 1980s. It is naughty and supposed to be funny, and I am certainly not modest about any of my adventures.
